The item in subject came in this week and I got to enjoy the two offerings from this Scottish brewery which originated in 1745. These imports come in 11.2oz bottles here in Texas, and are on the special side for sure.

The House Ale knocked my socks off with its rich dense brown palate of malt and hoppy balance. The nose was fresh to start with hints of spice and something tropical in fruit. The mouthfeel was what got me, with a quality not unlike my favorite ale from the isles, the Old Suffolke. The finish was long and warm with a glowing hint of peat and hops, strange and fantastic overtones of scotch and mint. I could go on about this one for awhile.

The Jacobite is the real facinating one. Take everything i just said above and add the wonderfully amazing bonus of coriander. The finish has a rye effervescence that just blew me away, a depth of character and flavor i did not expect from a flavored ale.

These ales at writing can not be found in many places at all, and we've got them on the shelf for you at $5.99. We had a tasting of it to resounding hails and smiles, with cases going out the door for happy folks needing the warmth from this late February dreery wet chill.
