So, for valentines night, my wife and I enjoyed an early bedtime for our 17month young daughter and two hours of the Gilmore Girls TV show awaited us on tape. We hadn’t done any serious grocery shopping in too long and no ideas on what’s for dinner, so our common and maybe too often (no judgment) default stems from the grand dame of culinary lit herself, M. F. K. Fisher. Her citation of the elegant and yet robust potentiality of a great dinner with the item in subject demonstrated early on us the uniquely easy and ready 21sts century quality dinner for two (with added TV bonus, coffee table supplanting dinner and place mats). The omelet was easy with a sharp cheddar, and a side salad actually came out of our produce drawer. Alors, it was rounded out by the pinot noir we enjoyed below:

Solaris Pinot Noir 2003
Fruity nose with floral hints of plum blossoms, delicate palate with dark sweet berries and peppers, tannic finish that cuts away dry from the front juiciness

I also had the chance to try this vineyards offering of my favorite grape:

Rock River Zinfandel 2003
a somewhat smokey nose leads a palate of black currants and peppers with an unfiltered-like jammy thickness that finishes dark and wonderfully balanced with tannins and earth tones. I really liked this one, and the going rate on the shelf at $9.99 makes it all that much more impressive.

I got more notes of note, but little time this week, probably more after a good sleepless night with the full moon on 23 February (oye).

peace and smiles,
