This fine quaff from Piedmont has a gorgeous palate of deep violets and dark seed fruits ripe with brambly jams. The wonderful supportive tannins and pleasing dry finish let linger the airy menthol aroma, making you go back for more.
I really like this wine, and hope to serve it up with my best company. Also quite a value at $14.

If you follow Italian wines, you probably know that 2002 was the worst vintage in at least a decade, with cool summer temperatures and a tremendous amount of rain. The wines tend to be lean and a colleague told me his boss refused to score anything from the vintage more than 75 points. A mistake, I think, because even in the worst of vintages a careful winemaker can pull something from the hat, and here they certainly did.
